Welcome to Seventh Grade
Curriculum:
In sixth grade social studies, we focus on the Western Hemisphere and Core Concepts of Geography. Seventh grade social studies shifts to the Eastern Hemisphere, making stops in Africa, the Middle East, and Asia. We end the year with creating our own countries and governments. For 8th grade social studies, everything revolves around the history of the United States, beginning with early exploration and ending with Reconstruction after the Civil War. Sixth and seventh grade math focus on different aspects of geometry, algebra, data/statistics, number sense, and computation. In eighth grade, the students take Algebra 1 and focus on building the groundwork to either take Algebra again in high school or move forward to Geometry
Teacher Biography:
This will be year number 8 at Saint Wendel! I serve as the 7th grade homeroom teacher and cover the subjects of social studies and math for grades 6-8.
I graduated from the University of Southern Indiana in 2013 with a degree in Elementary Education and earned a Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from American College of Education.
Getting to know Mr. Furman
My wife is Krystal Furman. We have been married for 7 years. She also teaches in the Diocese of Evansville.
We have a 4 year old son, Camden, who keeps our hands full! He will be starting pre-K this year.
I never enjoyed math growing up but have become a bit of a math nerd since starting to teach it. It has been so much fun!
I could probably talk about history for hours if given the time.
Baseball is my other main source of interest. I am a lifelong supporter of the Chicago White Sox. I could also spend hours talking about baseball!
I sometimes umpire baseball and also umpire adult recreational kickball in Evansville
