Welcome to Seventh Grade
Curriculum:
In sixth grade social studies, we focus on the Western Hemisphere and Core Concepts of Geography. Seventh grade social studies shifts to the Eastern Hemisphere, making stops in Africa, the Middle East, and Asia. We end the year with creating our own countries and governments. For 8th grade social studies, everything revolves around the history of the United States, beginning with early exploration and ending with Reconstruction after the Civil War. My 7th and 8th grade language arts classes involve heavy focuses on vocabulary and discussions about texts covered in class. We learn new grammar concepts in 7th grade and review all major grammar concepts in 8th grade. Throughout the year, we will read various novels alongside Scope magazine!
Teacher Biography:
I am currently in my sixth year as the seventh grade homeroom teacher at Saint Wendel Catholic School. I teach social studies for grades 6-8 and language arts for grades 7-8. With extracurricular activities, I also serve as the Speech team coach and am a co-director of the middle school play with Mrs. Cadden.
I graduated from the University of Southern Indiana in 2013 with a degree in Elementary Education and earned a Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from American College of Education. I married the love of my life Krystal (also a teacher in the Diocese!) in 2015, and we have our two year old son, Camden at home. In my spare time, I enjoy relaxing at home with my family (and our dog Buehrle), along with watching baseball, football, hockey, and the WWE. I am a lifelong supporter of the Chicago White Sox and can talk about baseball for hours on end!
