Welcome to Eighth Grade
Welcome to the 8th grade! My name is Pam Schmitt, and I am the 8th grade homeroom teacher at Saint Wendel Catholic School. This is my first year at Saint Wendel teaching science, health, and religion. I am thrilled to be a part of a Four Star, A Rated School! Quality education immersed in the Catholic Faith is a valuable gift students receive at Saint Wendel. This is my twenty fifth year as an educator and there is no greater job than working with young adults and helping them to grow into life-long learners.
The 8th grade year is a very exciting year for the students as they take on the role of leaders and role models to the younger students, while preparing for their transition to high school. The 8th grade class participates in a variety of diverse activities throughout the year. The following are just a sampling of the activities the 8th grade is involved in:
In science, we will explore the Indiana science standards while developing critical thinking skills and problem solving techniques. Learning tools utilized will include interactive science notebooks, lab reinforcement, and STEM curriculum.
Health education will include learning about our body systems as well as developing life skills to make educated choices for our overall well being.
Fun Facts:
My husband is Steve Schmitt and he farms in the Saint Wendel community. We have been married 29 years!
I have four daughters, all of which graduated from school Saint Wendel, and one son-in-law.
Three of my four daughters, as well as my son-in-law, graduated from Mater Dei High School and my fourth will be a freshman there this year.
I truly am a science Nerd!
