Welcome to Saint Wendel's Preschool and Pre-Kindergarten programs! We are so excited to partner with you as your child begins their early learning journey with us.

At this special stage in life, children are naturally curious, imaginative, and full of wonder. Our program is thoughtfully designed to nurture the whole child—spiritually, socially, emotionally, academically, and physically—through a safe, loving, and faith-filled environment.

Our teachers are passionate educators who believe in learning through play, discovery, and meaningful relationships. Each day is filled with opportunities for your child to grow in independence, build friendships, explore new concepts, and develop a love for learning that will serve them for years to come.

Most importantly, we are grounded in the belief that every child is a precious gift from God. Our Catholic values guide all we do, helping us create a welcoming, inclusive, and joyful classroom community.

We are honored to be part of your child’s early education and look forward to working together to make this a joyful and faith-filled year.

Hello! My name is Mrs. Leah Graber, and I am so excited to be a part of the Eagle family!

I graduated from Mater Dei High School in 2017 and went on to earn my bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Murray State University. After graduating, I had the incredible opportunity to teach overseas in St. Kitts, where I taught 3rd grade. Most recently, I worked in the EVSC as an instructional teacher, spending much of my time supporting Kindergarten students, which made me fall even more in love with the early years of learning!

My husband, Eric, and I live on the Westside and love spending time with family and friends. When I’m not in the classroom, I enjoy cooking, traveling, being outdoors, and playing games.

Curriculum:
Pre-Kindergarten is a fun and exciting year for young children. Our goal will be to prepare each child to be successful and ready to learn. Realizing the importance of developing the whole child throughout this process we will offer opportunities for social, emotional, spiritual, cognitive, physical, and creative growth.

Young children learn through play and active exploration of their environment. Our classrooms are arranged in learning centers or interest areas, allowing children to explore and connect with the world around them. This allows for individual as well as group play.

Our early learning curriculum provides instruction in the following learning domains; social- emotional development, oral language and vocabulary, emergent reading, emergent writing, math, science, social studies, art, music, physical development and religion. Our goal is to make each child feel special and to help them develop a lifelong love for learning!

Teacher Biography:
Hi! My name is Katie Boots, and I am so excited to be a St. Wendel Eagle! I graduated from Mater Dei in 2012 and then the University of Southern Indiana in 2015 with a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and Language Arts minor. I taught a little bit of everything in EVSC: 1st grade, 2nd grade, and K-4 Related Arts. Most recently I taught preschool for 6 years at Resurrection, and that’s where I fell in love working with the littlest of littles.

My husband, Bernie, and I have five kids: Hudson, Beau, Maren, Maeve, and Weller. We have two dachshunds, as well. We live on the West side of Evansville and love going on walks and having movie nights. We are new parishioners at St. Wendel and are thrilled to be a part of the Eagle family!

Teacher Biography:
Hi! My name is Kearstyn Weber, and I am excited for my second year as a Saint Wendel Eagle. I have a Bachelor’s in Elementary Education and a minor in Math. This will be my 15th year as a teacher. I have taught a little bit of everything: 2 years high school math, 2 years middle school math, 6 years in fifth grade, 3 years middle school science, and now I will be starting my second year of preschool. I loved fifth grade, but wasn’t prepared to love preschool so much! I can’t believe I haven’t started working with the littles before now. Growing up I always loved playing with the little kids and it was one of my favorite ages of my own children. My husband, Michael, and I will celebrate 14 years of marriage in November. We have two daughters, Libby(11) and Ella(7). We are parishioners at St. Joe. As a family, we like spending time outdoors riding in our side-by-side, going to my parents' lake house on Barkley Lake, and swimming in my in laws' pool. Finally, my hobbies are reading, exercising, making clean homemade foods and products, and most recently gardening.
