Saint Wendel PreK
Curriculum:
Pre-Kindergarten is a fun and exciting year for young children. Our goal will be to prepare each child to be successful and ready to learn. Realizing the importance of developing the whole child throughout this process we will offer opportunities for social, emotional, spiritual, cognitive, physical, and creative growth.
Young children learn through play and active exploration of their environment. Our classrooms are arranged in learning centers or interest areas, allowing children to explore and connect with the world around them. This allows for individual as well as group play.
Our early learning curriculum provides instruction in the following learning domains; social- emotional development, oral language and vocabulary, emergent reading, emergent writing, math, science, social studies, art, music, physical development and religion. Our goal is to make each child feel special and to help them develop a lifelong love for learning!

Prior to that I worked at Holy Redeemer Catholic School since 2004, where I taught Pre-school and Pre-Kindergarten. I am married to my husband Randy and we have two daughters. We are Parishioners at Saint Wendel Catholic Church. In my free time I enjoy traveling, riding my bike, walking, being outside and spending time with my family. I have a passion for early childhood education because it gives me the opportunity to impact children’s lives in a positive way and watch them learn and grow. It is my goal to foster a love of learning in my students and encourage them to always do and be their very best! I love teaching Pre-Kindergarten at Saint Wendel School! |
Teacher Biography:
Hi! My name is Mrs. Erika Wassmer, and I am very excited to be one of the Pre-K teachers at Saint Wendel Catholic School. I am 37 years old. My husband Brian and I have been married for 13 years now. We live in Wadesville. We are the proud parents of four children: Peyton (12), Ellyson “Elly” (10), Ryker (8) and Baylor (7). All four of our kids attend Resurrection Catholic School where we are active members of the church. My family and I love to spend time together going on trips/adventures, watching movies, swimming and family dinners. I attended the University of Southern Indiana where I studied Early Childhood. Before having my first child, I worked at Cedar Hall Elementary School, where my main area of focus was the Even Start and preschool programs. I’ve also worked at Home For Your Heart Preschool teaching Jumpstart and Pre-K. I love teaching preschool because it reminds me of how amazing the world is. Seeing things from the eyes of a small child is a pretty special experience. I am most excited to be at Saint Wendel because I’ve always wanted to work in a great Catholic school. I am beyond thrilled to start my second year here, and I love being a part of the Saint Wendel family! |
