About The Capital Campaign:

Our all-parish, diocesan-wide capital campaign to help strengthen our parishes and our diocese begins soon.  The Stewards of God’s Grace Capital Campaign will achieve several objectives for our parishes and our diocesan ministries: work towards a fully funded pension plan for retired priests, fund continuing education for priests, provide support for a priest sabbatical fund, provide seed monies for a priest aid fund; bolster tuition assistance for Catholic schools, provide for training and certification of teachers of religious education; enrich programming for youth and young adults; generate new work space and enhanced services for Catholic Charities clients; sustain the current and future needs of our parishes, and improve the energy efficiency of the diocese with the installation of new windows.

Our parish will actively take part in the all-parish, diocesan-wide capital campaign beginning the Twenty-Seventh Sunday in Ordinary Time, October 1/2, 2016.  Specific to our parish, the campaign funds will be used to expand our Preschool and PreK programs through a build out underneath the present Wendel Hall.  Campaign funds will also used to renovate and update the existing Wassmer Room.  The upgrades and improvements made to these spaces will allow our school to educate more students in the faith and will enhance the overall beauty of our Saint Wendel Catholic Church and School campus.

Saint Wendel Information:
Saint Wendel Parish is embarking on an exciting building program to support the Saint Wendel Catholic School mission: “We Learn.  We Serve.  We Are Christlike.” The focus of the project is the completion of the Lower Level of Wendel Hall into an Early Childhood Learning Center to house our Pre-Kindergarten, Pre-School, and Daycare programs to reach our youngest members and their families.  The project will include four new classrooms; an Activity Room for indoor play; expanded restrooms; staff office and workroom; a covered outdoor play area and an enclosed, secure playground for 2 – 5 year olds; and exterior development including sidewalks and parking.  A new covered entrance at the Lower Level will provide easy access to a newly remodeled Wassmer Room, providing an attractive and accessible meeting space for use by parish organizations.  Our Saint Wendel Early Childhood Learning Center will provide an expanded space in which to continue to provide a safe and nurturing environment, helping young children develop socially, emotionally, spiritually, cognitively, and physically.
Saint Wendel Parish has made special arrangements with our diocese regarding our participating in the shared parish-diocesan Stewards of God’s Grace Capital Campaign. This campaign will allow us to make needed improvements not only at our own parish, but will bolster support for the ministries of our diocese, that serve all 12 counties. Due to the anticipated construction cost of our Early Childhood Learning Center we are setting our fundraising target at $1,100,000. This is a great opportunity for us to come together, on behalf of the greater good of our parish and our diocese. Strong parishes make for a strong diocese.
As a family of faith we have no doubt that we can, with this fundraising effort, surpass our target and raise the funds we need to complete the construction of the classroom space for our Early Childhood Learning Center Program. It is a necessary and real need in caring for our children and the future of our Church. Others before us came together and provided for the needs of our parish community.  This is now our opportunity.

Capital Campaign Prayer:
Gracious and merciful Father, You love us into being and call us into mission.  Jesus, our Savior, taught us that the lamp of discipleship must be visible rather than hidden, that the measure with which we measure will be measured out to us, that what we do or fail to do for others, we do or fail to do for Him.  Bless the Diocese of Evansville, united throughout its twelve counties in Southwest Indiana.  May we seek to know and embrace Your will in all things, striving to be who and what we claim to be as the Church, the Body of Christ.  Grant us courage, humility and generosity to be more effective witnesses of mercy, justice and peace.  Renew in us the missionary spirit entrusted to the Church to be stewards of Your grace and blessings through time, talent and treasure.  May Your Holy Spirit guide and strengthen us as intentional disciples of Your Son through Word, Sacrament and Service.  We ask this of You through the same Jesus Christ, our Lord, Who lives and reigns with You in the unity of the Holy Spirit, now and forever, Amen.  – Mary, Mother of God, pray for us!
