Physical Education Biography:
Hello, my name is Keri Spahn and I am the physical education (PE) teacher at Saint Wendel. This is my twenty-seventh year of teaching in the diocese and my eighth year at Saint Wendel. I am married to Steve Spahn and we have four daughters. Three of our daughters are graduates of Saint Wendel, Mater Dei and the University of Southern Indiana, and our fourth daughter is a seventh grader at Saint Wendel. I am also the Saint Wendel 7th & 8th grade volleyball coach and the Mater Dei Volleyball Feeder League Coordinator. I have a passion for physical activity. I like to run and keep myself as active as possible. I try to instill my love for physical activity into my students. I want them to enjoy being physically active and also understand the importance of staying active throughout their lives. In PE we work on a variety of skills and sports ranging from basic locomotor skills, jump rope, and hula hoop all the way to sports such as lacrosse, volleyball and pickleball. |

Fine Arts Teacher Biography:
Hello Wonderful Humans! My name is Brittany Buttrum and I am the K-8 Fine Arts Teacher at Saint Wendel! I also direct the elementary & middle school choir and the elementary drama club. This is my sixth year teaching and my fourth year teaching at Saint Wendel. I am so so so passionate about the arts and I am at my HAPPIEST when I get to share that passion with young minds. Every lesson I teach is centered around Indiana music and art standards and taught in a way where students WANT to learn more. I currently live in Elberfeld, IN with my dog and husband, but I am originally from Boonville, IN. Go Pioneers! In my free time, I love to hang out with my family & friends, read fantasy novels, sketch, play my instruments (saxophone is my fav), and watch the same shows over and over again. I cannot wait to spend this year with your tiny humans! |

Spanish Teacher Biography:
Hello! My name is Erika Collings, and I am excited to be teaching Spanish for grades 5–8 this year. I began teaching Spanish in 2024 after previously teaching English as a Second Language (ESL). I was born and raised in Guatemala City, Guatemala, and one of my greatest joys is sharing not only the Spanish language but also the rich cultures of the Spanish-speaking world. I believe languages are living, evolving, and full of stories. Learning another language opens doors to new people, new opportunities, and new ways of seeing the world. This year, I hope to make learning Spanish exciting through games, music, art projects, and hands-on activities that help students build confidence while having fun. Outside of school, I love traveling with my family, reading, learning random facts, and anything related to space. My favorite color is red, my favorite movie is Project Hail Mary, and my favorite scents are vanilla and coconut. I also have a dog named Bobby who keeps life entertaining! I live with my wonderful mom and my son, who constantly reminds me that learning should always be filled with curiosity and wonder. Teacher Biography:
Hello! My name is Mrs. Jessica Hames, and I’m excited to begin my 12th year teaching special education within the diocese and my third year at Saint Wendel. I live in Wadesville with my husband, Caleb, and our daughter, Kennedy. We are parishioners at Saint Wendel, and Kennedy attends school here as well. In my free time, I enjoy reading, spending time outdoors, and being with family and friends. I feel incredibly fortunate to work in special education— it’s a calling that allows me to support children of all ages and help them reach their highest potential academically, socially, and emotionally. Watching students grow, gain confidence, and thrive is the most rewarding part of what I do. I’m so thankful to be part of the Saint Wendel community and look forward to another amazing year! |

Teacher Biography:
Hello everyone! I am Laura Willman and this is my third year being the K-2 resource teacher. I'm proud to call Saint Wendel my home. I grew up here, attended Saint Wendel School, and am a parishioner as well. I am married to my husband, Nathan and we live in Wadesville. In my free time I enjoy watching Alabama football, relaxing at the lake, and spending time with my family, especially my nieces and nephew! Teaching at Saint Wendel brings me so much joy and fulfillment. I enjoy not only watching these children grow but to get to stand alongside them as they grow in their faith. God truly had a plan for me here at Saint Wendel Catholic School. I’m beyond excited to continue my journey here and see what this school year brings! |

Hello Everyone! My name is Taylor Gerth, and I'm proud to serve on the Resource team at Saint Wendel. I grew up in a close-knit community and graduated from Mater Dei High School, completing my undergraduate degree at USI. I'm passionate about supporting students as they grow-- not just academically, but socially, emotionally, and spiritually. In addition to teaching, I love being involved in our school community. I enjoy coaching the Junior Wildcats Volleyball team, traveling and spending time with family and friends. I'm so excited to see what my second year of teaching brings! |
